Um, writing is good...

It's been almost a month and a half without volleyball, and I can feel myself turning into a big lump. In fact, the only excercise I should be getting right now is non-weight-bearing... which limits me to swimming and some stationary bicycle work. Thus I've been trying to head out to the lake(s) and river lately to swim, but I don't think it's nearly enough. I need to buy a stationary bike. If nothing else, that will help me after my knee is better to shed some of these unwanted pounds. Plus, I can sit and watch my netflix movies while doing it!

In eleven days is the retreat for our institute. I hope I'll be able to do a little Jet Skiing - the last time we went to this resort I was able to rent some Waverunners with some friends/coworkers of mine and tool around in the water. It was a lot of fun - and if anyone has ever thought about doing that at home or on vacation, I would give it my big thumbs up! It's not as difficult to control as you think. As with everything else, you can easily vary your 'danger level' to your comfort zone. If it's your first time, I wouldn't recommend standing up until you get a feel for it.

I scanned some pictures of my arthoscopy the other day... but now I can't remember where I put them. When I find them I'll post it here so y'all can see what the steet docs did to me. Now if only I could have gotten muscle augmentation...

If you guys couldn't tell, this LJ entry was 1/2 forced. I'm trying to stay up-to-date with the journal, but I find that I force it if I really don't have that much to say. Feels unnatural, I guess. That could be because I've got to present an article at Journal Club tomorrow on the effect of acetylation on the phosphorylation state and activity of Forkhead (FOXO) transcription factors. Maybe I'm just a little distracted.
